Reviewing and supporting research plans

The research advisory board provides advice, examines, coordinates and accompanies research plans presented to it by the FIR. The decision process is strongly influenced by the following two criteria: First, proposals are examined with regard to the current state of research, to see if the issues raised have not been investigated previously.

Secondly, proposals are checked regarding their potential economic benefit and their pre-competitiveness for companies. The research projects should provide small and medium-sized businesses with continuous access to current technological developments and know-how, and they should support the technological standard and thus the international competitiveness of that specific economic sector or field of technology.
